Allergies and Special Diets

App State’s Campus Dining provides nutritious food to the campus community throughout all of our 10+ dining locations, with options for a balanced diet to satisfy anyone's appetite. We are proud to be a  Spokin Verified College. Spokin's Verified College Program is a complete resource designed to make locating allergy-friendly colleges easier while providing everything students and parents need in one place.

Nutrition Consultations

Students can schedule a private consultation with our executive chef or director of nutrition to go over any questions about recipes and ingredients. A consultation may include a discussion on nutrition, allergens, potential cross contamination issues and a tour of the dining locations to learn how to safely navigate dining, including cues to look for and how to identify managers and supervisors in each unit.

Students with these concerns can also consult a staff member wearing a purple allergen resource badge, which means they are knowledgeable about the menu being served that day.

Schedule a Nutrition Consultation

Schedule a nutrition consultation with Farrah Reidt, our Director of Nutrition. You can also email reidtfm@appstate.edu ,  or call (828)-262-7928 . We look forward to meeting with you!

Allergy and Nutrition Disclaimer

Campus Dining makes every attempt to identify ingredients that may cause allergic reactions for those with food allergies. Every effort is made to train our food production staff on the severity of food allergies. There is always a risk of cross-contact. There is also a possibility that manufacturers of the commercial foods we use could change the formulation or substitute at any time, without notice. In addition, Campus Dining partners with several local vendors who prepare food in off-site kitchens. Customers concerned with food allergies need to be aware of this risk. We cannot guarantee the absence of cross-contact. All foods in the dining hall are prepared in an institutional cooking environment that could involve accidental cross-contact with the foods you may be allergic to. Students with life-threatening food allergies who may need medication, should carry their own epinephrine. Campus Dining staff is not trained to administer epinephrine injections and cannot provide them.
