Campus Dining is the largest employer of students on campus and provides opportunities for students to earn valuable work experience, leadership opportunities, and competitive wages. Students with any prior service-related work experience are eligible for a higher starting wage. Student supervisors and those who work nights and weekends receive premium pay. Student employees are eligible for a raise every semester.

** - Premium Pay Shifts include Weekends (Friday closing through Sunday), Weekday closing shifts, Condition 2 or 3 Adverse Weather, and more. Weekend and closing shifts apply only at Sanford Commons, Rivers Street Cafe, and Park Place.

How to Apply
New Student Employees
We are now using Handshake to accept applications for all positions within Campus Dining Student Employment! Once your application is submitted we will be in contact with the next steps in determining placement. Our interview appointments can be held through Zoom or in-person. Students can also drop by the Campus Services Express office on the second floor of the University Bookstore to submit an application.
Please follow the Handshake link and search for Campus Dining Assistant to apply! Please note you may have to set up an account if you have not previously used Handshake in the past.
A new student employee is someone who was not previously employed in any capacity at Appalachian State University within the last 12 month period. The following documentation must be presented for the work verification process and will determine your eligibility for accepting a position.
- Completed New Hire Paperwork (Print one-sided)
- An original* identification document: Social Security card, birth certificate or passport.
*Applicants must present an original document to be eligible for employment; copies or pictures will not be accepted.

Returning Student Employees
A returning student employee has previously worked at Appalachian State University less than one year ago. Returning employees must bring re-signing documentation to their appointment:
