Meals for Mountaineers Winter Break program

To support the diverse needs of the Appalachian Community during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the University is offering the following options for meal service during the Winter Break:

Meals for Mountaineers 

Free, chef-inspired meals to address the nutritional needs of students, faculty, and staff in need who remain in our community during Winter Break. During most weekdays between December 12 through January 14, anyone can pick up hot breakfast and pick-up lunch along with a prepared dinner.

Weekender and Celebration Boxes to Go

For those needing meals on weekends and during holiday breaks, participants can select the Weekender/Celebration Box which includes ingredients for 3 meals per day for individuals or up to 4 people. Boxes feature fresh produce from Appalachian State Blackburn Vannoy Teaching and Research Farm.

Interested individuals may complete the intake form for each of the days they wish to receive meal service. 

Dates & Hours of Operation^

December 11* through January 14 

Lunch & Meal Pick-up: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

^ - Weekender/Celebration Boxes should be ordered by the following dates: December 9 (for pickup December 12), December 16 (for pickup December 18), December 21 (for pickup December 23), December 23 (for pickup December 31), and January 6 (for pick-up on January 8)

* - December 11 is a Weekender box pick-up only. Hot weekday meals will begin on Monday, December 14.

Free parking is available at the Rivers Street Parking deck. 

How To Order and Pick-up

1. For each day, complete the Intake Form by 10 am the day before your pick-up.

2. Pick up your meal(s) and/or Weekender/Celebration box at Rivers Street Cafe in Roess Dining Hall between 11am-2pm on the appropriate day.
